Surviving the storm
Surviving the storm-------------------
The gods of snow dumped more than 12 inches in my town. Everybody knew it was coming, and so, I took the necessary preparation. I had learnt that from last year, where I had to lived on nothing but boiled potatoes, soymilk and turkey breast for 3 days during theNoreaster. My roomie Steve succintly explained the situation while talking to his girlfriend, "Matt & I, we have two 12 packs of Guiness, half a bottle of Hennesey and an unopened Jack. We should be OK."
5 hours of ESPN NFL 2K5 keep the Saturday night alive. The game is good, but I still think Maddedn 2005on my Xbox is far better. This is the only part where I become an unabashed supporter ofMicrosoft. Xbox rules!
Sunday was, like any given Sunday. Not really. It was special. The best two teams, New Englandand Pittsburgh battled it out in the steel city. Although I was rooting heavily for the Patriots, and ecstatic in their win, in a way, I felt sad for Ben Roethlisburger, who lost his first game asa rookie. I have always been drawn to the underdog and Ben seemed more desrving my support than the sauve Brady. Ben is the working class hero many in this country need right now. He is very much the much malighed white middle america who are seen as responsible for the Bush victory. Ben can be a symbol for this social class and be a role model for a lot of youngsters. I think he has great potential as a quaterback with his strength and poise.
